Denis Matsuev

The name of Denis Matsuev is inseparably tied to the legendary Russian school of piano artistry. Matsuev is a sought-after guest in the world’s foremost concert halls and a participant in the most prominent musical festival. He has collaborated with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the BBC Symphony, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra. Matsuev is a frequent collaborator with such leading conductors as Valery Gergiev, Yuri Temirkanov, Mariss Jansons , Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur, Alain Gilbert and others.

In addition to being president of the Voronova New Names Foundation, he is a member of the Presidential Council for Culture and Art of the Russian Federation. He has been recognized as both an Honoured Artist of Russia and a People’s Artist of Russia; he has also won the Shostakovich Prize and the State Prize of the Russian Federation. Matsuev is an honorary professor of Moscow State University and chairs the Public Council under the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Denis Matsuev had the privilege of performing at the closing ceremonies of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. In 2014 he was designated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
