Kristian Benedikt began his career in Vilnius at the Lithuanian National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

His international breakthrough came in 2002 with the recording of Ponchielli’s “La Gioconda” with the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra, Marcello Viotti, and Plácido Domingo.

In Kristian Benedikt’s current repertoire the key roles are in “Otello”, “Ernani”, “Lohengrin”, “Don Carlos”, and “Rienzi” as well as Radames in “Aida”, Don José in “Carmen”, the Duke in “Rigoletto”, Alfredo Germont in “La traviata”, Andrea Chénier, Chevalier des Grieux in “Manon”, Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly”, Manrico in “Il trovatore”, Cavaradossi in “Tosca”, Canio in “I pagliacci”, and Siegmund in “Die Walküre” among others.

Benedikt has appeared on such stages as the Bavarian State Opera, the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, the Finnish National Opera, the Dutch National Opera, the Estonian National Opera, the Liceu Theatre, and in the opera houses of Vilnius, Santiago, Basel, Piacenza, Modena, and Cagliari.

His concert repertoire began with his début in Verdi’s Requiem with the European Union Choir (2009) and went on to include Dubois’ “The Seven Last Words of Christ”, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem as well as Handel’s oratorio “The Messiah”, Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde”, and Rachmaninov’s “The Bells”.

He has collaborated with conductors such as Marcello Viotti, Riccardo Chailly, Alberto Hold-Garrido, Maurizio Barbacini, Paolo Carigniani, Asher Fish, and Giampaolo Bisanti, as well as with such prominent theatrical directors as Willy Decker, Dmitry Bertman, Arnaud Bernard, Eimuntas Nekrošius, Pier Francesco Maestrini, and Igor Ushakov.
