Andrei Petrenko

Honoured Practitioner of the Arts (2008), Andrei Petrenko, graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad State Conservatory with a concentration in choral, operatic, and symphonic conducting. His artistic career began in 1981 at the Leningrad State Theatre of Musical Comedy. From 1989 to 2000 he taught at the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory.

Since 2000 Andrei Petrenko has been Principal Chorus Master of the Mariinsky Theatre. Among the most prominent of the Theatre’s productions in recent years are: Les Troyens, Benvenuto Cellini, Attila, The Nose, War and Peace, The Love for Three Oranges, The Golden Cockerel, Parsifal, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Die Götterdämmerung, Die Fledermaus, Jenufa, The Gambler, Nabucco, Otello, The Enchantress, Turandot, The Brothers Karamazov, Dead Souls, Tristan und Isolde, The Mystery of the Apostle Paul, The Lefthander and many others.

The Mariinsky Theatre Chorus conducted by Andrei Petrenko sings a cappella programmes in the most prestigious venues in Russia, Lithuania, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the UK, Israel and many other countries.

Since 2008 Andrei Petrenko has been a guest conductor for the Radio France Choir.
